Simmons? Never again!:
The ten-year warranty on my Simmons Beautyrest expires in 3 months--so I speak as an experienced user. You might think that if you buy an expensive mattress for the 10-year warranty, it must be good. Or at least if something goes wrong within a year or two, there will be no problem with the company standing behind the product. You would be wrong to think that about the Simmons company. The warranty covers virtually NOTHING but an obvious manufacturing flaw--and then on only on certain parts. Since such a flaw would likely show up within a week... or weeks or months, having a 10-year warranty that covers almost nothing is ludicrous. If you buy an extra firm mattress and it turns out to be soft--it's not covered by the warranty. Body impressions are not covered. You could feel like you're sleeping in a hammock after two weeks, and it's not covered! The fabric on the mattress is not covered. The handles aren't covered. Upholstery compaction is not covered. Bent border wires--not covered. The main thing that's covered for ten whole years is: nothing. Lots of nothing is fully covered! I threw out the most wonderful mattress in order to buy the Simmons--ONLY because the covering on my old one had begun looking shabby after TWENTY-THREE YEARS of excellent use. When houseguests departed, and removed the bedding, the dingy cloth on the mattress was just a tad embarrassing; otherwise it was firm as the day I bought it--literally. So that proves they can make a decent mattress if they want to, and that's what I thought I was getting when I bought the expensive Simmons. After just one year with the new Simmons, I was wishing I had my dear old mattress back, and I am not exaggerating in the least. After 4 or 5 years, I took out the warranty to begin some kind of replacement process--and that was when I realized the warranty was just a worthless piece of paper. As far as I'm concerned, this is a third-rate company and I will never buy this brand again.
