$500 worth of aggravation:
I bought a fan of this general type about 4 years ago. It was installed by a professional electrician. Initially it worked fine - for about 3 months, and then wouldn't run. I took it back to the dealer three times, which was a darned nuisance. He said it worked fine. I now realize that it had the worst kind of trouble that any piece of electrical equipment could have - an inconsistent contact on one of the circuit boards, or somewhere in its innards. I developed a technique of tapping the motor with something soft, like a book or a sneaker. This would work sometimes, or I would try the fan a day or so later and it would work for a while. Now the thing is completely dead and it's going to the city dump. $500 worth of junk. I would have done better with something from Lowe's or Walmart at a tenth of the price.
