Excellent Book about Effective Parenting: What I liked about this book is that there is several pages of resources where you can contact authors, consultants, trainers, parent educators and publishers for additional infomation abou their programs, services, or resources. It includes addresses, phone & fax infomation(if they have a fax number). I found the resources & bibliography section helpful because it was clear-cut and it gave references that weren't used as resources in this book but provides good infomation which is related to the topics in the book. Since the author had listed this book in a list format under each heading, there isn't many examples. Overall, I found this to be an excellent book to read.
This Book gives some ideas, that may help you out.: Just glancing through a few pages of this book gave me a few ideas that could make my life a little easier i think it is well worth the small price.
mostly common sense: I expected more from this book. It gives do's and don'ts, but most of which we already know. It spends too much time telling the reader how to tell their child that they love them. I quess for a few parents out there this is a difficult task but that's the least of my problems. Overall it seems to give guidelines but no helpful examples. It's like reading a text book for parenting, not a book of real life experiences.
Lists for all types of parenting situations: If your looking for an easy to read book that covers a wide realm of family issues, this is it. It provides easy to follow lists that focus on positive feedback that will minimize conflict and maximize cooperation in the family. Here are a few examples of the lists: - 13 ways to model respect - 22 worst things an adult ever said to a child - 8 ways kids rebel - 19 ways to build thinking skills - 15 ways to minimize conflicts on car trips and one of my favorites -- 14 ways to help your child deal with Monsters in the closet. The book is a very easy read, and you can pick up tips to improve your relationship with the kids...
