The "NEW and IMPROVED" formula is AWFUL!: Why Johnson & Johnson changed the formula of this lotion is something I cannot understand. The original scent was so light and calming. This new scent has a plastic smell. Luckily I stocked up on the "old" formula but am running out. I hope they change it back!
Not what I expected: I shop at amazon a lot but I have never written a review until now. I wasn't going to write about this product, I was just looking for the Baby oil by Baby Magic that I read so much about, and then somehow I came across this product, which I already have, but don't like. I seriously thought I was the only one, but I guess I'm not as crazy or picky as I thought. I'm not sure if it's just the smell, but when I put it on, I don't like the feeling of it. Just something about it doesn't make me feel good at all. I don't like using regular lotions for adults because they seem too thick and yucky for me, I hate applying anything on my skin period. I do like baby oil, just about any kind, but I have heard of Baby Magic's Creamy Baby Oil and I am dying to try it but apparently from what I been reading, it's not available in stores. I haven't tried the old bedtime lotion, so I can't compare this one to that one. All I know is I can't use it, and I was surprised that I didn't like it. Luckily my bf doesnt mind using it on certain parts of his body where he has really dry skin. I do use the J & J Lavender Baby Oil after a shower, before I dry off, at night. Works great on my skin, I like the feeling, but as far as the smell, I barely smell anything at all. Seems like any other baby oil to me. Anyway's, two thumbs down for this one, sorry J & J.
Icky new scent is NOT an "improvement": Add me to the long list of people who are disappointed in the new, "improved" version of this product. Where the old version had a noticeable, lasting, but soft scent; the new one is perfumey and cloying. The old one also smelled much closer to what fresh cut lavender smells like. I happen to have a friend that works for Johnson's Consumer Products, and I have been bugging her to let the product people at the company know how the customers are reacting to this new formula. I told her specifically, "the old product smelled like a field of lavender in Provence, the new one smells like a hooker in Paris. Correction: a hooker NAMED Paris." That said, the underlying lotion is a decent product. It's thick and moisturizing for a low price. I only recommend buying it however, if you have lost your sense of smell.
I like it: Ok, it seems from the reviews that the smartest thing to do would to be smell it before you buy it if you can. I like the stronger smell because it does last all day. But I seem to be out numbered.
Awful, cloying smell: Whatever you do, avoid any product by Johnson's that says it has this new "Natural Calm" stuff in it. This means the product has this awful, cloying, sickeningly sweet smell that will not go away all day. It's like cheap nasty perfume. Like other reviewers I found it nauseating. Really. I'm writing reviews of a few of their products in the hopes that they will see the feedback from everyone and change back to the previous fragrances. I don't know why they changed the smell of their products - if it's not broken, don't fix it! My favorite theory is that they are trying to make their products smell like Herbal Essences (without smelling exactly like Herbal Essences) but where Herbal Essences is too strong but smells pretty good, this stuff is too strong and smells really bad. Herbal Essences would be too strong for babies anyway. Johnson's, please use light, pleasant scents again. Babies shouldn't reak of a nasty perfumey smell all day.
