Mrs. Astor Regrets: The Hidden Betrayals of a Family ...

Categories:

NO PICTURES!!!!:
Not only does Amazon charge almost as much for the kindle edition of this book as the print edition, but you don't get ANY of the pictures included in the print edition. In some books, like this one, pictures are an important part of the experience. They didn't tell me I was purchasing an abridged book and not the book in its entirety. Amazingly, Amazon customer service states that there is no way to find out if a book includes pictures before purchasing. They say it is the publisher's discretion to include photos and suggested that we contact the publisher. That is all fine, however, I purchased the book from Amazon and I expect Amazon to include all pertinent product information. In essence, Amazon is ignoring their responsibility to give you relevant information before you buy the product. Customer service states that you can return the book within 7 days if you are unhappy. I guess that means you have to carefully check your books as soon as you buy them. Oh, and you also need to run by a brick and mortar book store and look at a print edition to find out if there are pictures (or anything else) omitted from your kindle edition!!!

I suppose I should be grateful:
Mrs Astor Regrets was the featured book on NPR's wonderful segment "You Must Read This" and as usual, I turned to the kindle store, typed in the title to purchase... And came to a screeching halt when I saw the price! With finances the way they are, I suppose I should be grateful that my rabid book downloading as been brought up short. The sample was delightful and if the book ever appears at $9.99, I'll certainly download it, but the current price controls my impulse pretty effectively. too bad

the price is not as promised...:
i will wait for the promised kindle price of 9.99 for all books before purchasing. the sample was excellent.

This Mrs. A. regrets buying the book at any price!:
Chaos reins supreme in this scattered compilation of 'who said', 'who didn't say' what, and in my opinion, who cares book of Brooke Astor's life. I recognized the names of friends quoted, and I do know that few of them express themselves the way the book depicted. Boring is the word for this novel, and I use the word loosely. Perhaps just a list of supposed quotes would have fared better. Don't waste your money - better yet, don't waste your time reading this. Even Mrs. Astor wouldn't have read this.

Mrs Astor regrets:
TO EXPENSIVE for a download that I cannot share. Amazon should give us a email to the publisher I am waiting for $9.99
